Beware of Fraudsters AKA 419ers
There are so many unfortunate people in Lagos who will do just about anything to make money. My father will always tell us his children to be wary of people because not everybody we encounter has good intentions. Lool, I never disregarded his advice but I just never ever thought I would encounter these evil perpetrators.
Last Sunday morning by a few minutes past 11, I was headed home from Mary land. Remember my turn up? I had almost gotten to the first bus stop from my girlfriend's house where I needed to board a bus when a car pulled up beside me. The driver signaled me to come around. I did.

Must have item: the OVERCOAT
Stylish something huh? Well, it is. It is a great fashion piece that makes a statement whenever you throw it on. Lushfairy has been getting creative and now sells her own designs. I would appreciate it if you patronised. Ain't nothing like a girl getting her own coins. This kimono was designed by lushfairy and others include:
I particularly love the lace kimono. Which do you prefer? Well, I am not done selling you the kimono trend. Lol.
Congratulations Golden Eaglets!
We have as Nigerians, broken some records in the course of this tournament. With this recent win, we are the only country to ever have won the tournament for a record of 5 times, our closest competition is Brazil with 3 titles. Our no 9 striker, Osimhen has set a new world record as the highest goal scorer since the history of the tournament with 10 goals.

Diary: We turned up for bae
My girl, M, clocked 23 yesterday and she hit me up quite late that we were going to party all night. I told my dad and he granted me permission to spend the night out. After all my house chores and obligations, I finally left for her house at Mary land.
I got lost. Don't get me wrong, I had been at her place several times but not in the last 3 years so you can just imagine. I arrived at the bus stop and got confused. Back then there used to be a filling station and an then three eateries residing in an open space so just imagine my shock when I got there and there was only Mr biggs and the once lively environment was a ghost town. Omg! I chartered a tricycle and had it take me different places including Isaac John Street in GRA all in tge bid to locate the gas station with three eateries. Lol. All this while, I couldn't reach my dear friend. Finally, after what seemed like ages, I got through to her and I got the right direction. Turned out that where I initially stopped was the right place afterall. Whew!
There was little time so I just got in a car with all her other friends and then we went to the mall at ikeja. I was a really distraught because I had thought we would have stopped by at a pre- arranged crib so I could change into my party wear. I ended up changing in the toilet at the mall. That was not cool but I just didn't want to ruin her day with an argument because she is my bitch and I love her. Up next we chilled at the rhapsody bar for a while. She bought drinks. Finally by a few minutes past 11, we headed for yet another bar.
Now, a friend of hers had agreed to host M at shaunz bar. Well, we were not early enough to participate in the karaoke. The host only provided a bottle of champagne for us. The place wasn't exactly what we had in mind but man did we let that dampen our mood? No. Did we turn up? Yes. M had an amazing time and at about 2am we left the venue. M had a friend who stayed on the island and so we slept over and later this morning, he drove us home.
Here is to wishing M an amazing 23rd birthday. I love you and I want the best things for you.
I was really glad that I could celebrate with M but this experience made me all aware of the fact that I practically know nowhere in Lagos. Lol. I promise to go out more and then give you first hand gist.

Living with your insecurities
Every day is a reason to be happy. Right! Easier said.
I hope that this post touches somebody the positive way. I have always been insecure. I have always felt not good enough and this didn't help the choices I made.
I am dark skin with a long neck and toothpick legs. I obsessed over these features. I will always think about bleaching my skin. I will always worry about what people thought about my legs. This continued all through my secondary school days. Then, university happened. In university, alot of boys felt I was sexy. My dark skin wasn't a taboo anymore. my neck was graceful and my legs were not so bad after all. I felt better about myself.
Today, I have greater insecurities because at 23, I am single and suffering from a terrible acne situation which started early this year. I have been celibate for almost two years now preparing for the right person. Thing is, the class of men I desire don't date broke girls like me who have no achievements. How do you think I feel? I have tried everything I can afford to get rid of these pimples all to no avail. I have been searching frantically for a job but nothing has worked.
I don't know what you are going through. A lot of my friends insist that my acne should not be considered a problem but I beg to differ. Are you depressed? Is there anything in particular that makes you feel less than what you are? Do you have something planted at the back of your mind that continually drags you down? I think I know what we should do.
We can live with this insecurities. We can try to overcome these insecurities. Are you ready to live your life? Are you ready to take control of your life? Well, I am. So these are the things I suggest we do.
1. Stop worrying.
2. Stop thinking about these insecurities.
3. Don't let these insecurities be the reason why you don't enjoy all the great things life has to offer.
4. Go out often.
5. Laugh more.
6. Grow your faith.
Everything above is self explanatory and yes, I have decided to heed my own advice. I can't stay locked up in my tower for fear of what people will think of my condition and neither should you. I may not be able to snag the man of my dreams because of how I look and feel but I will try to enjoy life for what it is. And, indeed everyday is a reason to be happy. The key question really is, "are you willing to allow yourself be happy despite all that worries you?"
Let us go on this journey of self actualisation together. Take my hand. It is going to be alright. Trust me.

Fashion Trend of the month: The crop top.
So back to the matter, we are talking crop tops. Crop tops look like these.
The crop top trend started sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2013 with all major designers buying into the trend. At that time, alot of people including myself had thought it to be a fad. Two years down the line and we still haven't gotten a hang out of it. It seems like everyday we discover new things about the crop trend. what you have to understand about the crop top is that it is just like your average top except it is not as long as your average top. Its most distinguishing factor is that it hangs around the belly area. I think the point of wearing a crop top is to show off some flesh- Better toned than anything else if you ask me.
There are several ways to rock the trend and I will be sharing three tips with you. Just sit pretty, I got you.
1. Pair your crop top with free pants : this is a perfect look that can be worn on any occasion be it a wedding, a fundraising gala, a birthday party, a company event, etc. It gives off that effortlessly chic look while still keeping your hoe side slightly visible.
This outfit will be suitable for just about any body type. Why? This is because it doesn't really show off your shape,it flatters your tummy. Ensure that your pants are flowing like hers to get the most out of this outfit.
2. Pair your crop top with a skater skirt : this tip here is life. If you have hot legs then this is for you. If you have a big tummy, this is for you. If you want to look chic and not random then this is for you. Here is what this combination looks like.
If you are not motivated then I suggest you visit a nearby boutique. You need to up your fashion drive. Lol. You could rock the first look to a picnic event or to the beach. you could rock the second look to a party or a red carpet event. You could rock the third look to a naming ceremony. your pick!
3. Pair your crop top with a Jean trouser: this look is the regular mall look. Why not? It is a great combination and requires no much ado.
So, there you have it and just in case you are wondering where you can purchase all these fabulous crop tops and skirts, look no further as my home girl sells. Everything in this post is for sale. You can search for @lushfairy on instagram for her details.
You have any questions on how to rock your crop top? Feel free to send me an email or drop a comment.

The place, Ikeja
Look and feel: the restaurant has its own compound which serves as packing space. There are security guards manning the compound. From outside, you will notice the see through glass work that makes the restaurant look so cool.
Upon entering the restaurant itself, first thing that struck me was the red. Everywhere was red. Catchy colour if you ask me. Not that I mind. The place restaurant looks like a cafeteria. If you attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka then you must be familiar with C H I T I S. well, this place gives off that feel too.
Food Ratings: I ordered their chinese fried rice with curry chicken sauce, salad and plantain. My girlfriend, M, ordered spaghetti with plantain and peppered snails.
M's order |
My order |
My accompanied salad |
I got to taste M's food and it was yummy. The snails we're everything.
Pricing: I can't complain. They have really affordable meals. Everything we ate plus a small carton of yoghurt and table water came down to #3300.
Conclusion: I had a pretty awesome day. I got to gossip with M about everything. I also discovered Isaac John Street, GRA, ikeja ( in case you are wondering, the restaurant is on number 45.) I would be visiting the area again because of all the cool spots there. They have yellow chilli, KFC, cold stone, oh la la and zen garden just to name a few places.
I apologise for the image quality of the pictures, I forgot the memory card of my camera at home so I couldn't shoot. I ended up using my phone.
Have you been to the place? What did you think about it? Feel free to drop a comment.

Dubliner Irish pub, Ikeja.
And so I left my house that fateful Tuesday for the restaurant. It was easy to locate at 114 Allen avenue street, ikeja (popular eh?) On entering the establishment, I noticed it has a small space that doubled as a bar and a restaurant so whatever you are looking for, they got you. Lol.
The vip room |
Main Course: I had ordered fried rice with salad and chicken and honestly, after that dreadful appetiser, I was glad I hadn't ordered something foreign. Lol. The rice wasn't the best I had eaten but it was edible. The chicken which I loved was soft and succulent and very easy to cut through with my cutlery. The salad was er coleslaw. Overall, this meal was okay. It way better than the first.
Dessert: I had ordered icecream before coming in but to my surprise, I got cake. Hmm. Chocolate cake. It was a super tiny slice but considering the quantity of food I had downed, it was heaven sent. The cake was excellent but I couldn't get over the whip cream the chef had put on it. It was a huge turn off. What?
In conclusion, dubliner irish pub is not a bad choice to dine in but if you are a bit particular about what you eat, it shouldn't be on your top 10 dine in destinations list.

Hello world!!!
My blog! Finally!!!
You cannot begin to comprehend how exciting this is for me. Practically everyone had asked me to start up my own blog. Finally, after completing my service year and several attempts to get a job, I figured a blog wouldn't be so bad after all.
First, I want to thank my friends who have pushed me one way or the other. I want to thank Todun for this beautiful site logo (I still can't get over how beautiful it is). I want to thank my day one friend, Motun for the endless support she has rendered in the course of starting this project. To Dankaro, kuebano, Nwando, Nasa and those I can't remember, I want to say a big thank you.
This blog is going to act as a chronicle of my life henceforth. It's funny that I was born and bred in Lagos state but cannot actually name 5 places comfortably. Don't get me wrong, I am a very social person but I just don't go out in Lagos. It doesn't help that I didn't school in this city. Well, with this blog as motive, I plan to explore the city of lagos and share excerpts of my experience with you guys. I will be visiting hotels, bars, restaurants, beaches and pretty much every where I can afford.
I will also be sharing details of my life as well as gossip and fashion tips. I am too excited, can you feel it?
Hello REBELS, I am Jacinta the lagos rebel and I am excited to meet you too.
